Sam has years of experience at analyzing a situation and then finding the best solution. That makes him particularly well suited to helping our customers find just the right mortgage to fit their individual home financing needs, an often challenging exercise. Energetic and enterprising by nature, Sam previously worked 29 years at Pac Bell in many different jobs, retiring as a business manager in 1996. He is extremely involved in the local community through many organizations including Arroyo Grande Rotary Club, the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce, SLO Sportsman's Association, Arroyo Valley Car Club, South County Historical Sociaty, Arroyo Grande Police Advisory Council and the California Law Enforcement Historical Society. At a time when others might have relaxed from their accomplishments, Sam went on and received his Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Redlands.

He enjoys Cowboy Action Shooting as one of his primary hobbies and is a true champion, having won just about every major "Old West Shooting Event." In his 14 years of competition, Sam garnered 5 State Championships (California 3 times, once for Mississippi and once for Hawaii), the Western Regional Championship 5 times, the Western States Championship, and the National Championship. He also achieved the highest of all by winning 3 World Championships in 2006!

In the 2006 World Championship of Cowboy Action Shooting, there were 920 competitors from all over the world. They had to endure rain, hail, wind, dust and heat, plus lightning and thunder, and Sam prevailed. He usually competes in the "Historically Correct Black Powder Category," with all ammunition loaded with black powder, what the "real Old West gunfighters used." But for 2006, he chose one of the newest categories, B-Western. In the B-Western category, the participants dress like the Silver Screen Cowboys of the 40’s and 50’s. Sam did very well for his first outing. We are all very proud of him.

One of his other interests is raising Smooth Fox Terriers. With his co-breeder, they garnered the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show 2002 and 2006 Best of Breed. They also won the National Championship and the Tournament of Champions in 2006 and 2007, and have the current #2 ranked Smooth Fox Terrier in the U.S. Their award-winning dogs have produced over 26 Champions (www.kemosabeterriers.com).

You can tell anything he tackles, he does extremely well. The maze of mortgages delights him.
